Man what a great amp this is. I just had a little time (finally) to sit around and noodle a bit. I plugged a rosewood Strat (w/Stephens Design pickups) straight in. No effects needed (or wanted) at all. What gorgeous tone!
To me, the Gattone has a very soft, spongy feel to it. There's no abrasive sound in the amp at all. I could sit and play all day on the thing.
Can't wait to give it a workout with my other guitars. For Gattone users--what is your favorite guitar to match with the amp?

I just checked in and saw your post.
I love all of my guitars through my Gat, Strats maple, rosewood boards, and Lesters.
What really blue me away was my masterbuilt Cruz Esqure which I finally got around to taking for a test ride through the Gat.
The Gattone imo. is inherently so fast, has so much spank, is so percusive, plug an Esquire in and it sounds ridiculous!
Balls deluxe, but with a rich helping of percusive twang.
I never experienced that kind of blend in a rig. The tone was just sharp enough but never painful. The guitar sings, the harmonics bloom, amd so much bang. It didn't matter how the amp was eq-ed. It was just happening all over the dial. |
