i'll be honest. i've never liked twins very much. loud and gnarly some of 'em, with a hard raspy sound if you turn 'em up. blechhh. on a hunch, i recently included the twinmaster among some louis amps i bought. tried it out properly today. i'm stunned. it's the best guitar sound i've ever personally heard in my life. from pristine and sweet to thick and exuberant, this amp is the most amazing electric guitar amplifier i've used. i've been touring for 25 years, with a whole lot of amps and experience of them. my friend who auditioned it with me today is a hard-nosed successful producer. we were both stunned. whichever way you take it volume and tone wise, it just sings, extremely versatile with normal and bright channels, clear with warmth and depth, complex with emotion and feel. i mean, it's a box ferchrissakes, and i'm talking about it having feel! can't wait to record it. with a classy vintage strat it was beautiful, on clean complex chords, wicked game type single notes, or hard rhythm. with a 335 it was just awesome - whatever sound we went for, it just sounded like the real thing. best rhythm sounds i've ever managed to get, with little effort.

i haven't even tried pedals with it yet, just wanted to keep playing. as the amp gets louder, the warmth and overdrive increases very smoothly and progressively. it's loud, but it is a beauty. not surprisingly, it's not in marshall/rock territory (although the distortion gets really nice and chewy), or a jack of all trades. however, anything near fender (twin) territory is covered, but better than any twin i've heard. if you're even remotely thinking about a twin - or any kind of full-range amplifier, run to the phone and call the man. now. you will die happy.

my twinmaster is my valentine this year.
Very Happy Cool

Congradulations on the TM. I've always loved tweed twins .
Lou let me hear one of his TM over the phone and I had the same reaction, unbelievable!!
Not over the top loud?
Lou's amps always sing with rich complexity which is why I love them better than anything I've
ever used.

it can be a loud amp for sure, but i think the headroom and dynamic range is part of the reason why it sounds so fricking good. i wouldn't say over the top loud at all, but i haven't used it on a small stage yet. for studio, no problem. at home... good luck Wink

a difficult amp to stop playing through. it's just so musical and organic sounding.

Just curious--

Is this the first Louis amp you've ever heard? I pretty much have the same reaction you did to all my Louis amps. But I do not have a Twinmaster. One day, though.

At what point on the dial does it start to break up? What are you favorite settings, and with which guitar(s)?

Thanks,

Jeff

I just reread your post. You said you ordered some Louis "amps", which means you got more than just the TM. What else did you get, and how do you like them?
