P-90's! I've played the Ferrarri, KR12, Gattone, couple of types of Bluesbreakers, Trembleux, the 2x12 50 watt thingy (LE 50?), and while they all could sound great with other types of pups, the P90's were no brainers, especially with the US style amps. No pedals necessary, but the cleans and edge tones were perfect also. The EQ's just seem to flatter these types of pups.
Yeah?
Nah? |

Can't disagree at all with P-90s. But I'd have to include any Fender style single coil made by Don Mare. Superb pu's. And they go extremely well with Lou's amps.

I own a corral of guitars, with a variety of single coil and humbucker p/ups. Truth is, there isn't a pickup or guitar I've found that doesn't sound AWESOME thru my Louis Amps. Hell, even my National Resophonic - with it's old Barcus Berry magnetic stick-on p/up moans like there's no tomorrow thru my Louis prototype amp. Perhaps we should change this discussion to :
Is there a pickup that doesn't sound good thru a Louis amp?????? |

I couldn't say what's best but I recently discovered Sheptone pickups. I loved the Strat and Humbucker type pups that I heard. It's personal taste of course; these pups happen to have the tones I'm looking for. They're worth a listen.
He does custom work. I'm going to have a strat set built for my 14" radius guitar. I'm going to try the AB set (named for Andy Brauer). _________________ exit stage left |
